Scheming Swatches w/ Spell

Image
Forum 4: Swatchy Schemey Introduction Starting this project, I wanted to find an object with lots of color and detail, but not basic colors like your typical blues and reds. I wound up finding one of my Funko Pop figures of the Marvel character Mysterio and really liked the coloring and detail on it, so I grabbed a photo of it and threw it into Photoshop to start looking at the colors.  The Swatches Once I had my image in PhotoShop, I decided the three overall colors I wanted to focus on were the green, gold, and burgundy that come from Mysterio's outfit and hand illusions. I zoomed in on each of these area's on the photo and using the eyedropper tool, selected the color to find the CMY values to transfer onto InDesign. Then, I used color and tint swatches to create my color variations, which I think turned out really well. The Nameplates For the nameplates, I wanted to use a fancier font for my name and then something more traditional ...

Meme Making Magic

Forum 3: Me(me) is not impressed Ze Meme Original Photos Making the Meme: Adding the Photos and Adjusting the Layers: I started making the meme by bringing in all three photos of Carole Baskin from the Netflix limited series 'Tiger King',  Dr. Fauci alongside POTUS during a COVID-19 briefing, and an original image selfie of my friends and I. Using the quick select tool, I isolated and made layer masks of Dr. Fauci and one of my friends to put behind Carole Baskin in the image. Then, I selected and masked just the outline of Carole's body to bring her to the foreground of the image. After making Dr. Fauci and my friend smart objects, I was able to add adjustment layers just to each of those images to make them fit in with the entire image. I did this by adding some brightness to Fauci and by adding a slight blur to my friend.  Adding Text I added the text to the meme by creating two text boxes along the top and bottom of the image and then ...

Filtered Adjustments

Image
Forum 2: Instagrammish Before beginning my adjustments and creating my "filter," I set three main objectives for enhancing my photos:  1. Brighten the images 2. Bring out the red in the photos by adding a red tint to the image 3. Do not "over-filter" and degrade the images Before After Adjustment 1: The image I began adjusting was the first shot of the car, without the subject in the photo. To achieve my first objective of brightening up the image, I added a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer. I wanted to keep the focus of the image on the car, and I discovered as I adjusted the brightness up, other parts of the image became too bright and distracting, like the trees for example. To offset this, I increased the contrast to 40 and moved the brightness back to 10 and wound up with a brightness that I liked.  The way the natural light shined on the hood of the car also allowed me not to have to do too much adjusting to b...

Composition with Craig

Forum 1: Composition Working on this assignment, since I am not sure what I want to do for my photo story, I decided I wanted to photograph an everyday item, and decided to go with a lamp because the interesting element of light that I could play around with. My goal was to take an everyday item that we do not typically think of or pay much attention to and try to capture interesting photos of it using different composition techniques. These are five shots with five different elements that I was able to get. Symmetry For this shot, I used the subject of the photo (the lamp) as a the line of symmetry/midpoint breaking down the two sides of the photo. Both sides of the image mirror/mimic the opposite side. I also thought the light that the lamp put off on the table was a neat addition to the symmetry and made the photo stick out more. I had to turn the light on to keep the photo symmetric because with it turned off, the shadow of the lamp threw off the symmetry by only display...
